International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking observed at JSS High School

Suttur, June 27, 2017: The JSS High School NCC Land Army and Airforce wing had jointly organised a programme to observe the ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’, at the JSS High School, Suttur, on June 27, 2017.

Psychotherapist Dr. Shivananda of JSS Hospital, Mysuru, gave a lecture on the ill-effects of narcotics. ‘‘Drugs damages the brain, leads to memory loss and make the person incapable to grasp anything. Smoking and consumption of tobacco though provides a moment of happiness, it causes physical weakness and lead to long-term diseases. Hence, the students should know and understand the ill-effects of drugs and stay away from it. Instead they should try to become service oriented and work for the upliftment of the society’’, he added.

Institution Coordinator Sri G. L. Tripurantaka presided over the programme. She opined that schools should try to enlighten the students by observing such ‘Days’. Efforts should be made to make the students capable of assessing what is right and what is wrong as they grow and enable them to serve for the country. ‘‘As the world moves towards sophistication, students are inculcating bad habits,’’ she lamented and added the need of imparting moral education and enable the students to lead a good life.

High School Head Master Sri G. Shivamallu made the introductory speech. School NCC Land Army officer C. P. Nirmala, Airforce wing officer Sri M. G. Basavanna and NCC cadets took part in the programme.
