‘Guru Purnima’ at JSS Residential school
Suttur, 15 July, 2017: Guru Purnima was observed at the JSS Residential School in Suttur with fervor.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. P. H. Vijayalakshmi, Assistant Professor, Department of Linguistics, Sri Maharaja Sanskrit College, Mysuru, explained the objective behind observing ‘Guru Purnima’. “Guru Purnima is observed across the country in rememberance of Vyasa Maharshi who presented Indian culture before the world through his epic. This is also the day when Gowthama Buddha preached the world at Saranath for the first time. Also it is an auspicious day when the monsoon rains makes the earth cool,” she said.
“Many stalwarts have contributed to the Indian Guru Parampara. We can attain eternal happiness with the knowledge that is given to us by our gurus. Guru Purnima is a day when a guru passes on his ability of attaining unearthly happiness to his disciples. Hence, it is the duty of every student to be obedient to his teacher and respect them,” she adviced the students.
