Spark CTY-2019 Phase-1 winners

Two students of the JSS Public School, J.P.Nagar, Mysuru, Varna Rithesh, and H.G. Swathi Urs, studying in 8th Standard participated in the ‘Spark Catch Them Young-2019’, phase-1 training program held on January 20, 2019, and have emerged successful, and have become eligible to take part in the phase-2 training program. The two-week long training program will be held at the Infosys Campus in Mysore, from April 15, 2019.

Special pooja performed to the Jagadaguru Ghanalinga Shivayogi shrine

Suttur, March 15, 2019: Special poojas including Rudrabhisheka, special alankara, Mahamangalarati was performed to the Jagadguru Sri Ghanalinga Shivayogi shrine (Gadduge), on dt: 12.03.2019, on the occasion of the Sri Thontada Siddalingeshwara Swamy Jatra Mahotsav, at the Kaggere Tapokshetra, in Kunigal Taluk of Tumakuru District.

The 11th pontiff of the Suttur Srimath Jagadguru Sri Ghanalinga Shivayogi had actively involved in the social development works of Yediyuru Sri Siddalingeshwara, and also has contributed immortal messages through his vachanas, to the religious and literary world.

The utsava idol of Sri Thontada Siddalingeshwara was kept at the Shrine (Gadduge). Srimath and JSS Institution officials, Sri Veerabhadrappa and family of Duggahatti, Sri Thontadarya Swamiji of Kaggere, Temple administrative board members, and lot of devotees from Kaggere and surrounding villages witnessed the special pooja programme.

The music teacher and students of the JSS School presented a vachana recital programme on this occasion. Prasada was distributed to all after the programme.

JSS Women’s College Organizes NSS Camp to Promote Personality Development through Service

Kollegal, March 14, 2019: Smt. Smita, Assistant Professor of the Geography Department at JSS Women’s College, Kollegal, highlighted the significance of the National Service Scheme (NSS) in fostering a service-oriented mindset among students. She inaugurated the ‘End Plastic Use Jatha’ as part of the annual NSS camp organized by JSS Women’s College, held at Kamagere in Hanur.

Addressing the students, Smt. Smita emphasized that the NSS goes beyond traditional curriculum-based learning by offering practical opportunities to develop a service attitude and enhance overall personality. She encouraged NSS trainees to make the most of this platform for their personal growth.

Joining the jatha, Smt. Suma, Assistant Professor of the Political Science Department, emphasized the relevance of NSS in instilling noble ideals in the youth. She advocated for making NSS mandatory in schools and colleges to motivate students to actively contribute to society.

During the event, Prof. Basavaraju, Programme Officer, Prof. Guruprasad, Smt. Puttamma, and other participants raised awareness about the detrimental effects of plastic use. The NSS trainees conducted a jatha in the village, spreading awareness about the ill-effects of plastic and advocating for its reduction.

The ‘End Plastic Use Jatha’ witnessed the active participation of Smt. Smita, Programme Officer Prof. Basavaraju, Prof. Guruprasad, Smt. Suma, Smt. Puttamma, and numerous enthusiastic trainees.

JSS Women’s College Empowers Students with Skills and Employment Opportunities

Kollegal, March 13, 2019: Sri Imanuel, a renowned Skill Trainer from Mysuru, emphasized the importance of acquiring skills for a prosperous future during the “Skills and Employment Opportunities” workshop. The event was organized by the Commerce Club of JSS Women’s College, Kollegal, under the auspices of the Employment and Information Center, Mysore University.

Addressing the students, Sri Imanuel highlighted that while thousands of students graduate from colleges every year in our country, only those equipped with valuable skills will have a promising future. He encouraged students to cultivate the habit of participating in competitive exams and programs, emphasizing the importance of hard work and a positive mindset. He urged students not to be disheartened by initial failures but to view them as stepping stones to success.

In his address, Prof. Umesh, Principal of the College, stated that success is attainable for anyone with a strong aim and unwavering commitment. He emphasized the need to persevere through failures, develop a positive mindset, and cultivate qualitative thinking and planning. Prof. Umesh drew inspiration from countries like Japan and China, where skill-based education and training are provided to students according to their interests, contributing to their development and progress.

The event saw the presence of Prof. Mamatha, Head of the Business Management Department, Prof. R. Sowmya, and other dignitaries on the dais.

NSS: Fostering Nation Building and Holistic Development, asserts S.D. Joseph

Kollegal, March 12, 2019: S.D. Joseph, Founder of St. Margaret PU College, addressed a gathering of students at the annual special camp organized by the NSS Unit of JSS Women’s College, Kollegal. In his insightful speech, Joseph highlighted the significance of the National Service Scheme (NSS) in building the nation and fostering a perfect personality among students.

Established in 1969 by Mahatma Gandhi, NSS is a national movement aimed at instilling love and respect for the country, promoting harmony, secularism, service-mindedness, equality, and social justice among its participants. Furthermore, the program introduces students to rural life, expanding their horizons and nurturing a well-rounded perspective.

Joseph emphasized that NSS plays a pivotal role in creating a perfect personality, much like education itself. By actively engaging in NSS activities, students have the opportunity to develop a deep sense of patriotism and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

During the event, Prof. Umesh, Principal of JSS Women’s College, commended the expansion of NSS across the country, with 750 universities now hosting the program and 50 lakh volunteers, including 5 lakh in Karnataka. Prof. Umesh highlighted how NSS has become a foundation for education, fostering human values through a wide range of qualitative, creative, and awareness programs.

Sri N. Nanjundaswamy, Principal of St. Margaret PU College, expressed his view that NSS goes beyond mere cleaning or waste removal. He emphasized that all NSS activities contribute to a profound attitude shift and a better understanding of the lives of people residing in rural areas.

The event was attended by Prof. Basavaraju, Programme Officer, Prof. Prakash, Assistant Programme Officer, and Prof. Manjunath, among others.

Seminar on ‘Role of Nuclear Science in Energy Production and Societal Applications’ at JSS College, Mysuru.

Mysuru, March 1, 2019:  The Undergraduate and Postgraduate Department of Physics, JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, B.N. Road, Mysuru, has organized a two-day UGC sponsored, Sate-Level Seminar on the topic “Role of Nuclear Science in Energy Production and Societal Applications,” on March 1 – 2, 2019, as part of the ‘National Science Day’.

Prof. T.K. Umesh, University of Mysore, inaugurated the seminar today. In his keynote address, he spoke about the importance of Nuclear Physics, Particle Physics, Nuclear Reactors and Applications of Nuclear Radiations for the Society.

Sri Srikanthan M R, Chairman, INS, Mysuru Chapter, spoke on the Indian Nuclear Society and the popularisation of nuclear techniques and nuclear-based research facilities.

Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive, presided over the function and explained the importance of celebrating the ‘Science Day’. On the occasion, he also spoke about the achievements of Indian Nobel Laureate in Physics Sir C.V. Raman.

Prof. M. Mahadevappa, Principal of the College welcomed the guests and the gathering. Dr. L. Vinaykumar spoke about the objective of the seminar. Dr. Vijaya Manjunathaguru gave a vote of thanks and Dr. G. Shivakumaraswamy compered.

Earlier the programme commenced with an invocation by Kum. Harishita and Kum. Rekha G. Teaching faculty of the college and students of the College in Mysuru and other JSS Colleges were present.
