Students should focus on overall development: Maleyuru Guruswamy

Mysuru, January 4, 2020: Maleyuru Guruswamy, a senior litterateur, emphasized the importance of overall development for students in today’s society. He shared his thoughts during the valedictory ceremony of the Cultural and Sports Meet 2019-2020, held at JSS PU College, B.N. Road, Mysuru.

Addressing the students, Maleyuru Guruswamy expressed concern that modern youth tend to prioritize physical appearance over personal qualities and behavior. He stressed the need for holistic development, emphasizing that a well-rounded personality requires nurturing the mind and heart, not just the body. He further highlighted the significance of cultural, emotional, and sports aspects in shaping an individual’s character, asserting that strong relationships in society are built upon these foundations.

Turning his attention to the technological advancements of the present era, Maleyuru Guruswamy noted that while today’s youth have easy access to vast amounts of information, there appears to be a lack of knowledge about great leaders and the rich history of the country. He encouraged students to have clear goals and exhibit a commitment to achieving them, reminding them of the abundant opportunities available in the educational sector.

Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the JSS College complex, emphasized the need for educational institutions to become centers for the holistic development of students, nurturing their hidden talents and helping them excel in life. He mentioned the vast job market expected to be created globally by 2025 and urged students to develop the necessary skills to seize these opportunities.

Sri S. Gopalakrishna, National-level sports person and Deputy Chief Ticket Inspector of the Railways Department, Mysuru, shared insights on achievement, highlighting the importance of keen interest and hard work.

During the event, Kum. Aleen Mendez and Kum. M. Smitha, PU Commerce students, presented the annual cultural and sports reports. Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions, and special performances, including a speed drawing demonstration by S.
