Quiz Competition on ‘Lives and Messages of Visionaries’ Held at JSS High School in Suttur

Suttur, Mar. 31, 2021: The Akhila Bharatha Sharana Sahitya Parishath, Mysore Chapter, in collaboration with the Kadali Mahila Vedike, organized a quiz competition at JSS High School in Suttur on the theme of “Lives and Messages of Visionaries.”

The competition was inaugurated by Sri G.L. Tripuranthaka, Coordinating Officer, who lit the lamp symbolizing knowledge and wisdom. Addressing the participants, Sri Tripuranthaka emphasized the importance of such competitions for students in understanding the values and principles of visionaries that can shape their lives positively. He expressed his belief that embracing the teachings of visionaries will contribute to the development of a virtuous society.

Sri D.S. Sadashivamurthy, Professor (Retd.), stressed the significance of integrating the lives and thoughts of visionaries into students’ lives. He encouraged the students to cultivate the habit of reading vachanas (spiritual poetry) and comprehending the teachings of visionaries, as this would pave the way for them to become responsible and upright citizens.

The quiz competition was generously sponsored by donors of the Pujya Sri Jademahanta Swamiji Endowment, as well as Pujya Sri Dr. Immadi Shivabasava Swamiji and Smt. Sudha Mruthyunjayappa, Vice-President of Kadali Mahila Vedike. These esteemed individuals also had the privilege of distributing prizes to the winners.

Six teams from the school enthusiastically participated in the quiz competition. The team comprising D.M. Rakshita and Shuba from the 9th standard secured the first place, while Yashwanth and H.M. Puneeth secured the second position, and Praveen and Siddanagowda secured the third position. The remaining three teams received consolation prizes, including cash rewards and certificates.

Smt. Sharada Shivalingaswamy, President of Kadali Mahila Vedike, presided over the program, which saw the presence of members from the Akhila Bharatha Sharana Sahitya Parishath and Kadali Mahila Vedike. Also in attendance were Headmasters Sri G. Shivamallu and Smt. C.P. Nirmala, along with dedicated teachers and enthusiastic students of the school.

The program commenced with a soulful invocation by the students, setting the tone for the event. Sri M. Rajashekar extended a warm welcome to all the participants, while Smt. Suma Prakash expertly compered the program. Smt. Geetha Ishwar delivered a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the organizers, sponsors, participants, and attendees for making the event a resounding success.

This quiz competition served as a platform for students to delve into the lives and teachings of visionaries, enriching their knowledge and fostering a deeper understanding of their significance.

Fulfill the Dream of a Good Society by Gaining Knowledge: Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar Advises Students

Mysuru, Mar. 20, 2021: Prof. G. Hemanth Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore, emphasized the transformative power of knowledge and encouraged students to strive for a better society through education. His remarks came during the inauguration of the program ‘Abhivinyasa’ at JSS College of Arts, Science, and Commerce on Ooty Road, Mysuru, aimed at guiding new postgraduate students of the College.

Highlighting the advancements in science and technology, Prof. Hemanth Kumar emphasized the abundance of knowledge available in the modern era. He urged students to have a genuine interest in learning and to leverage their educational and research activities effectively. “The fulfillment of living in a good society can only be achieved through knowledge,” he stated.

Presiding over the program, Prof. S.P. Manjunath, Secretary of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, emphasized the visionary approach of Paramapujya Rajendra Swamiji, who recognized the challenges faced by the education sector and sought to address them. Prof. Manjunath urged students to follow the path laid by Swamiji and emphasized the importance of skill-based education in today’s competitive job market. He encouraged students to make the most of the training centers established by JSS Mahavidyapeetha to secure promising employment opportunities.

In his introductory speech, Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, highlighted the institution’s esteemed reputation and NAAC ‘A’ certification. He announced the upcoming launch of “JSS Radio 91.2 MHz Community Radio” on the College campus and emphasized the diverse range of research subjects available to students. Prof. Sambashivaiah also highlighted the College’s commitment to providing skill-based education aligned with current employment requirements. He encouraged students to seize these opportunities and work towards fulfilling the dreams of their parents and society at large.

The program commenced with an invocation by student Kum. Sannidhi, followed by a warm welcome extended by Principal Dr. H.C. Honnappa. Dr. R. Suhas served as the program’s emcee, while Dr. Kumudini Achi delivered the vote of thanks.

Mahashivarathri Celebrations Held in Suttur

Suttur, Mar. 11, 2021: The auspicious occasion of Mahashivarathri was celebrated with great fervor and devotion at the Suttur Srikshetra, under the divine presence of Parampujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

The day was marked by special poojas and a series of programs held at various temples within the Suttur Srikshetra. At the shrine of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji, special poojas were conducted, invoking divine blessings. Additionally, Rudrabhisheka, Ashtottara, and other poojas were performed at the temples of Sri Mahadeshwara, Sri Someshwara, Sri Veerabhadreshwara, and Sri Narayanaswamy.

The festivities were adorned with cultural devotional programs presented by the students of JSS Residential School, Suttur. The Raghuleela Sangeetha Mandira artists enthralled the audience with a mesmerizing music and dance ballet titled ‘Bhakti Sankeertana.’ The music teachers of the Residential School showcased their talent with a soul-stirring vachana recital program. Smt. Indumati Salimath and the team from Kalaburagi captivated the audience with their ‘Jeevanotsaha’ program. The devotional songs program was presented by Sri Gurutshantappa and his team from Suttur, while the Bhajana teams from Banahalli, Bhogayyanahundi, Hosahalli, Chunchanahalli, and Horalawadi mesmerized the devotees with an enchanting ‘Akhanda Bhajan’ program.

A significant highlight of the celebrations was the initiation of Shivadeeksha for 80 disciples, symbolizing their deep devotion and commitment to Lord Shiva. The grandeur of the event was further amplified by the participation of hundreds of devotees from Suttur and the surrounding villages, who actively engaged in the programs and even witnessed the captivating silver chariot procession.

The Mahashivarathri celebrations at Suttur Srikshetra not only showcased the religious significance of the festival but also served as a platform to unite devotees in a collective expression of faith and devotion.

International Women’s Day Celebrated at ICAR JSS KVK, Suttur

Suttur, March 08, 2021: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra, Suttur, in association with the Srikshetra Dharmastala Rural Development B.C. Trust (Regd.), Nanjangud, organized a program at ICAR JSS KVK in Suttur on March 8, 2021, to celebrate International Women’s Day.

International Women’s Day, observed on March 8 every year, serves as a global platform to uphold women’s rights, acknowledge women achievers, and recognize their social, economic, cultural, and political contributions. The United Nations has declared this year’s theme as “Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 World.”

The program was inaugurated by Smt. Vishala Akki, Principal, Human Resource Training Centre, Srikshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Program, Mysuru Division. In her address, she emphasized the strength and equality of women, highlighting the achievements of women throughout history. She encouraged rural women to actively participate in Women Self-Help Group activities, broaden their horizons, and enhance their self-confidence. She also acknowledged the multifaceted roles women play in families, urging them to strive for success.

Smt. N. Jamuna Ursh, Home Scientist (Retd.), ICAR JSS KVK, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the importance of courage for women to achieve their goals. She highlighted the economic benefits that arise when women engage in income-generating activities, ultimately improving the financial condition of families. She called for the respect and recognition of women’s pivotal role in managing households.

The program included the felicitation of women entrepreneur Smt. Dhanalakshmi, who shared her experiences in the food production industry. Smt. Anju, a member of a Self-Help Group, also shared her inspiring journey.

The event witnessed the participation of 59 individuals, including members of the Dharmastala Self-Help Group, final year students of B.Sc. (Agriculture) from V.C. Farm, Mandya, and staff members of JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra. The program commenced with a warm welcome by Smt. Divya H. V., Seed Technology Division Scientist, JSS KVK, Suttur.
