Bee farming can increase crop yield by 80%: Sri Sundaraswamy

Suttur, November 7, 2019: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra, Suttur, had organised a training program on bee farming and its benefits, for the villagers of Chowkahalli in H.D. Kote Taluk.

Sri S. Satish, Plant Protection Scientist, JSS KVK in his address to the participants expressed his view that the crop yield would increase by 80% through bee farming. Sri Sundaraswamy, Agricultural Scientist, Mysuru, called upon the farmers to undertake bee farming as a sub profession. He shared information about the various benefits that they get through bee farming like honey and the uses of its wax.

He expressed his concern about the declining number of honey bees due to increased usage of chemical fertilizers and medicine for the crops and requested the farmers to look at organic farming methods.

Students of the Jaipur Suresh Jnanavihaar Agriculture University, agriculture department officers, men and women farmers took part in the programme.
