Mysuru, January 26, 2019: “The students should be proud of this land and language. Instead of asking what is in India, be positive in your approach to life,” these were the words spoken by Dr. Jyothi Shankar, Assistant Professor, Kannada, Karnataka State Open University, Muktha Gangothri Mysuru, renowned orator and linguist.
She addressed the students on the occasion of 70th Republic day celebration, held at the JSS College of Arts, Commerce & Science, B. N. Road, Mysuru. “India is the mother of all sciences and technology, make use of it. You should make the world look at us with awe and wonder, come out of the slavish mentality. Cultivate a habit of respecting your parents, teachers and your motherland,” she said.
“The parents should sow seeds of self-respect and freedom among children. They should awaken the spirit of Nationality. The rich heritage and culture that has been handed over to us should be inculcated among our youth,” she added.
Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, hoisted the National Flag and received the guard of honour from the NCC cadets.
Prof. Mahadevappa M, Principal, JSS Degree College, welcomed the guests and the gathering.
Shri S Somashaker, Principal, JSS PU College proposed a vote of thanks. Prof. P. M Mahadevaswamy, convener, National Festivals Committee was present on the occasion.
