Mahashivarathri programmes at Suttur Srikshetra

Suttur, February 28, 2019: Special programmes have been organized at Suttur Srikshetra on March 4, 2019, Monday, on the occasion of Mahashivarathri, in the divine presence of Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

Special poojas will be  held at the shrine of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi, and the temples of Sri Mahadeshwara, Sri Someshwara, Sri Veerabhadreshwara and Sri Narayanaswami.

Special poojas will be held at the Shrine beginning from 6.00 pm to 6.00 am. The Shivadeekshe programme will be held at 7.00 pm, and the silver chariot Praakarothsava will be held at 9.30 pm.

The students of the JSS Educational Institution of Suttur will perform various cultural programmes from 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm. There will be Bhajans from Sri Mantramahrsi Gaanakala Vrunda of Gowrishankaranagar, Mysuru, from 8.00 pm to 9.00 pm, and Sri Benaka Bhajana Madali, of Benakanahalli, T. Narasipur Taluk, from 9.00 pm to 10.00 pm. There will be a Shivakatha Sankeertana on ‘Shivabhakta Halayudda’ at 10.00 pm by Sri Basavanna of Hallare village in Nanjangud Taluk.

The puppet show team of the Sri Rameshwara Krupaposhita Yakshagana Gombe Mela’ will present a puppet show on the theme ‘Satya Harischandra’ at 12.00 midnight. Sri Chinnamadu and team of Malara Colony, H.D. Kote Taluk will present the ‘Jaanapada Kathasaara’, at 2.30 am. Sri Basaveshwara Bhajana team will present a Bhajan programme at 4.30 am.

Devotees and public are requested to participate in large numbers and get the blessings of the Sriguru.

Literate Youth Encouraged to Create Jobs, Says Prof. Umesh

Kollegal, February 28, 2019: Prof. Umesh, Principal of JSS Women’s College, Kollegal, emphasized the importance of self-dependence and entrepreneurship among the literate youth during the inauguration of the ‘Entrepreneurship Training Camp.’ The event was organized by the Commerce Club in collaboration with JSS Rudseti, Chamarajanagar District Industrial Center, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, and the State Bank of India.

In his address to the students, Prof. Umesh urged them to explore opportunities in self-employment and business ventures instead of solely relying on traditional job prospects. He highlighted that while job opportunities are abundant in the country, there is a lack of eligible graduates who possess the necessary skills to fill these positions. Prof. Umesh encouraged the youth to take advantage of workshops and training camps, as skill development plays a crucial role in becoming successful entrepreneurs.

Presiding over the program, M.N. Murulesh, Joint Director of the District Industrial Center, Chamarajanagar, provided comprehensive information on obtaining loan facilities under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (P.M.E.P.). He shared insights on how to initiate and establish businesses in both rural and urban areas. Interested participants were also informed about banking-related procedures through the Department.

Sri Venkatesh Y.K., Assistant Director of Chamarajanagar District Industries Center, shed light on the loan facilities offered by banks and financial institutions for establishing business units and industries. He emphasized that individuals from general categories are required to invest 10 percent of the total project cost, while the investment percentage is 5 percent for SC/ST, minorities, differently-abled individuals, and other backward castes. Additionally, the government provides a 25 percent subsidy.

The event witnessed the presence of notable personalities, including Smt. Susheela, Assistant Manager of K.S.F.C., Chamarajanagara, Sri Kishore, Center Manager, Sri Keshavamohan, Chief Manager of SBI Kollegal, B.M. Chandrashekar, Project Officer of Rudset Institute, K. Chandrashekar, Director, and Sri B. Chinnaswamy, Coordinator.

Throughout the camp, various speakers, including Sri Kishore M.K., Sri Venkatesh Y.K., Sri Rajkumar, and Sri B. Chinnaswamy, covered diverse topics and provided comprehensive information to the trainees.

The Entrepreneurship Training Camp aims to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors and foster a culture of self-reliance among the youth.

First place in Ball Badminton tourney

Mysuru, February 28, 2019: The students of the JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, B.N. Road, Mysuru, have secured first place in the Mysore University Ball Badminton tournament 2018-19, and third place in Throwball tournament, held at the PES B.Ed College in Mandya.

Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive, Prof. M. Mahadevappa, Principal, Sri M. Karthik, Physical Education Director and teaching and non-teaching staff have congratulated the winners.

India’s Economic Progress Gains Momentum, Says Prof. R.M. Chintamani

Kollegal, February 23, 2019: Prof. R.M. Chintamani, Director (Retd.) of JSS PG Centre, highlighted India’s robust economic growth and expressed optimism for its continued progress in the coming years. He delivered a special lecture on the topic ‘Current Economic Situations’ at JSS Women’s College in Kollegal. The event was organized by the PG Department of the college.

In his address, Prof. Chintamani referenced the recent UN report titled ‘World Economic Situation and Prospects,’ which acknowledged India’s rapid economic development. He emphasized that the country’s business activities have gained momentum due to the implementation of various new systems such as the Goods and Services Tax (GST), simplified tax procedures, digitalization, and online money transfer systems.

Presiding over the program, Prof. Umesh, Principal of JSS Women’s College, Kollegal, emphasized the importance of maintaining India’s position among the top 50 business-friendly countries in the world. He highlighted that the present Prime Minister has called upon industrialists and entrepreneurs to contribute their best efforts towards achieving this goal. Prof. Umesh further noted that India has successfully attracted over Rs. 263 billion dollars in investments over the past four years, representing a 45 percent increase compared to the previous two decades. He emphasized that India’s economic progress has surpassed that of China, a remarkable accomplishment.

Pacifying is Counseling, Says Sri D.G. Vishakantamurthy

Kollegal, February 23, 2019: Sri D.G. Vishakantamurthy, Principal of JSS Nursing School in Kollegal, highlighted the importance of counseling as a means to pacify and alleviate mental stress. He delivered a special lecture on the topic “Counseling – A Nursing Method” at JSS Women’s College in Kollegal. The event was organized by the Red Ribbon Club.

Addressing the audience, Sri D.G. Vishakantamurthy emphasized that individuals from the middle-class section of society often experience significant pressure that can lead to depression. Counseling plays a vital role in pacifying and helping them overcome such challenges.

National Conference Explores Current Trends in Mathematics

Mysuru, February 21, 2019: The Department of Mathematics at JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Mysuru, organized a two-day National Conference on “Current Trends in Mathematics” to delve into the significant contributions of Indians to the field of mathematics.

The conference was inaugurated by Prof. H.B. Walikar, former Vice-Chancellor of Karnatak University, Dharwad, who highlighted the immense contribution of Indians to mathematics. Prof. Walikar emphasized that the concept of “Zero” was introduced by the great Indian mathematician and astronomer Brahma Gupta of the 5th CE. He further noted that references to the usage of “Zero” as a “dot” can be found in the Bhakshali Manuscript of the 3rd CE, and even Allamaprabhu mentioned the concept of “Zero” in his vachanas as “Shunya.”

The conference aimed to promote a scientific approach and enhance awareness among teachers, young researchers, and students regarding the recent advances in the study of current trends in mathematics, as explained by Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the JSS College Complex, in his welcome address.

The program began with an invocation by Kum. Madhura and Kum. Sadhana, second-year M.Sc. (Mathematics) students. Prof. M. Mahadevappa, Principal of the college, extended a vote of thanks. The event witnessed the presence of Prof. S. Linganna, Head of the Department of Mathematics, and Dr. N. Ravikumar, Organizing Secretary. Dr. Rajendraprasad skillfully compered the program.

The conference brought together approximately 200 participants, including teachers and students, to engage in discussions and exchange ideas on the current trends in mathematics.

Training Program Enhances Capacity, Skills, and Knowledge, says Dr. C.G. Betsurmath

Suttur, February 21, 2019: Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, emphasized the importance of training in improving capacity, skills, and knowledge during the inaugural function of a three-day training program organized by JSS Mahavidyapeetha for the second division clerks of the institution.

Highlighting the benefits of training, Dr. Betsurmath stated that attending such programs enables individuals to stay updated with new government policies and institutional practices. It helps overcome inferiority complexes, enhances professional satisfaction, and reduces mistakes while performing job responsibilities. Moreover, he emphasized that training instills confidence and trust among employers and seniors.

The workshop was inaugurated by Sri S.P. Udayashankar, who stressed the importance of service-mindedness among employees. He advised the participants to exhibit a positive attitude, work diligently, and maintain punctuality and accountability. Sri Udayashankar emphasized that learning is a continuous process and encouraged participants to acquire experience and become resource persons in their respective fields.

Sri Shankarappa provided an overview of the workshop, mentioning that over 19 subject experts would share their experiences and knowledge during the three-day program. He emphasized that training is a requirement to serve within the legal framework and improve working capabilities in accordance with government policies and institutional guidelines.

The event witnessed the presence of Sri M. Siriyappa, Sri K.R. Santanam, Sri H.S. Nagaraj, and Sri K. Shivaiah.

JSS Residential School students pay tributes to Pulwama martyrs

Suttur, February 19, 2019: More than four thousand students of the JSS Residential School, Suttur, paid tributes to the CRPF jawans who laid down their lives for the cause of our country at Pulwama in Jammu recently.

The students sang patriotic songs before offering their tributes. Sri G.L. Tripurantaka, JSS Institution Coordinating officer spoke about the sacrifices of the martyred soldiers. The students raised slogans ‘Bharath Maata Ki Jai’, ‘Veer Yodh Amar Rahe’.

The students and the staff observed a minute’s silence by holding candles in their hands. Head of the institution, teaching and non-teaching staff was present.
